A little help.
Back to your notes.
SwitchTrace is preparing for its first App Store release. This guide describes version 0.1.0 (1).
Start with both apps open
- Install SwitchTrace on a compatible paired iPhone and Apple Watch.
- Connect the iPhone charger, enter an outlet name from 1 to 60 characters and start a trace. Keep both apps active and reachable.
- After the Watch receives a fresh charging-loss observation, choose the breaker number you want to record and save the label.
- Open Saved labels on your Watch to find the note later.
What does the charging observation mean?
It is the iPhone's reported charging condition. It is not voltage sensing or proof that a particular breaker controls an outlet. Charger removal, battery charging management and delayed updates can make it ambiguous. Never use SwitchTrace to decide whether wiring is safe to touch.
The observation is stale, unknown or unavailable
Reopen SwitchTrace on both devices and bring the paired devices within their normal working connection range. Confirm the Watch companion is installed. Wait for a new observation. A phone lock, an inactive app or an unavailable connection can interrupt updates. SwitchTrace does not provide continuous background monitoring.
A note will not save
Enter a nonblank label of at most 60 characters on iPhone before tracing. Choose a breaker number from 1 to 200 on Watch. Saving requires an active connection and a fresh eligible charging-loss observation. If a storage error appears, keep the entry and retry after addressing the device's storage problem. Treat the note as unsaved until the app confirms success.
Remove a saved note
Open Saved labels, select the note, choose Delete label and check its name before confirming. Dismiss the confirmation to keep the note. Only the selected note is removed. There is no server copy or app-provided undo service.
Where are my notes?
Notes are stored in the Watch app's private storage. The iPhone keeps the current trace in memory and does not retain a directory. The app does not sync notes to the iPhone or provide cloud export. Apple-managed backups may contain app data; that is separate from an app backup feature. Removing the app removes its local notes. Keep another record of information you need to preserve.
Accessibility
The app uses system text and controls, visible status words and a Digital Crown number selector. The selector also exposes increment and decrement actions to accessibility services. If an action is difficult to reach or understand, tell us the screen, device and accessibility settings you used.
